Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

How long?

When I was 17 I had a child taken by DCF. I did not comply with my case plan and allowed my mother to take custody. She is now about to adopt him. Currently I have a 2year old and one on the way. I am now 21 and my life is better. I have a diligent search out for me and I am scared they may take my other children. I believed my rights were terminated long ago. Do they have the right to remove my present children from me without new aligations? How do I get this off my back. Does it matter that I was a minor?

Re: How long?

No one is going to take your children unless you have abused, abandoned or neglected the children. What's done is done.

The diligent search is prepared to demonstrate to the Court that the DCFS people tried to find you and notify you for the hearing on the adoption of your 4+ yr old child.

Did you have a dependency attorney working with you when you had your first child? He or she could help. If you did not have an attorney, you might want to seek advice from one who practices in Dependency law.

You apparently did not/will not fight your mother on the adoption?
