Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

RN contract - Miami

Hi My sister who reached USA through a RN consultant (Miami) had to quit her consulting firm and join some other company Consulting firm filed a ''court case'' against her and she received the ''summons'' yesterday. They are asking $40K as the penalty (as it is in the initial contract) ... She needs advice on a) Who could be good lawyer to handle this case ? looking for some referrals.. b) What are some ''to dos'' before going to a lawyer c) What are the best way to reduce the consulting firms penalty amount ? d) Any other input on this ? Please send me your advice on this

You do not mention were your sister lives or where the suit was filed, but generally there are usually multiple defenses in a breach of contract claim.

First, have they sued her in Florida or in California court? You'll need a lawyer from the state the court is located in to defend her. You haven't provided many facts, but you probably should look for an attorney with litigation experience and possibly labor experience.
