Legal Question in Immigration Law in Florida
Hi,
I applied for my citizenship today, but my permanent resident card expires in 30 days.
I realize i shouldve applied earlier, but what can i do?
I dont have the money to pay to renew my permanent resident card, i need to wait until my citizenship application is approved which could be months.
Will i be able to work if i show that my citizenship application is in process? Or will i be an illegal alien?
Thank you for taking your time to answer my questions.
Take Care.

While your green card might be expired, it will not make you an 'illegal alien'. Until your naturalization application is approved and you become a US citizen, your status will remain the same: ' lawful permanent resident'.
