Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

fired and holding my last check.

The company I worked for is in poor financial health. They downsized their office within the last month. After the move, a computer program installation disk that I had used prior to the move was lost. It is not realistic I stole the disc because it requires registration to work. I was fired for loosing it, and now I am told my salary is going to be withheld until I return it. I can't afford to loose a paycheck. There's no accountablity for the disk and many people were packing and moving the office. How do I get my paycheck?

Re: fired and holding my last check.

If they justrefuse, you will have to sue them in small claims court. Let them know that is where you are headed. They will be required to hire a lawyer since a corporation (unlike an individual) can't represent itself so their cost to defend will be more than what they are with holding.
