we lived in Florida. My mother remarried when I was eight. She and my step-father bought a house. She died without a will. Does he get the house?

No. He is entitled to (1) an elective share or (2) one-half of the assets. The other 1/2 goes to her children. Did they have children together because that brings another issue.
