Last will re: minor child in guardianship

My husband and I have legal guardianship of our 7 year old grandson. We want to make a last will and testament. Can we name someone to assume guardianship as you would with a minor child of your own. We don't want him to become a ward of the state should something happen to us.

Yes you can. But, just as is true when the parents choose, the naming of guardians is a nomination, not an appointment. It is still subject to the court's approval.
