Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Georgia

discrimination-sexual orientation

I recently enrolled in a class ($800.00) to get the ''hours'' and knowledge to receive a Real Estate related designation. The facilitator made several references to the city of San Francisco as ''San Fran-Sissy'' and then made a lude reference to a cucumber, saying, ''the word cucumber should not be in the same sentence as San Fran-Sissy, if you know what I mean.''

As a gay man, I was infuriated and felt like I was the object a very bad joke.

Are there laws to protect students against this sort of behavior? This school is not ''State-owned'' but is certified to teach State and Nationally recognized cirricula pertaining to Real Estate and Real Estate related licenses.

Re: discrimination-sexual orientation

It sounds like bad/offensive jokes - you should definitely discuss with higher level people who run the school and maybe the entity who owns or manages the place at which it was held. They may take care of that instructor. However, this falls under the "no legal right to not be offended" principle. The laws protecting everyone from being offended would be limitless.
