Stepdad wants to adopt

My son is 5 yrs old. His father and I have never been married. I recently married this past summer and his stepdad who has been my son's ''daddy'' in every way that counts would like to adopt him and change his last name. My son has not spoken to his biological father in over a year and a half. And he has not seen him in over two years. And he has the freedom to talk and see him whenever he likes. What can I do and what are my chances?
