Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Do I have a case.

I am a Deputy Sheriff and was injured while attempting to prevent an intoxicated person from escaping. During the struggle I sustained three ruptured disk in my lower back. I have been off work since May 2002. I am recieving Workers Comp benifits and medical treatment. Would I have any type wrongful injury case against the offender I arrested. Offender has history of violence.

Sure, you have a case against the person who caused the injuries. My only concern would be whether, once you get a judgment, it would be collectible. Most drunks with a history of violence don't have a lot of assets. Consult with a local attorney who can check into the guy's financial status.
