Filing of Motions

When a motion is filed in superior court, such as ''motion for continuance'' do all parties involved have to agree, or does the judge decide without the knowledge of all parties.

In GA, unless the party filing the motion requests a hearing (typically by asking for a "Rule Nisi"), the judges usually just take these under advisement and issue a ruling as his/her schedule allows. However, now knowing of the motion having been filed, the other side can request its own Rule Nisi if that is what is wished.
