Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
I was laid off this week due to lack of work. I signed a Non Compete Agreement last year. I did nothing wrong and was let go. I found another job with a rival company that wants me to start immediately. We are in the commercial refrigeration business and sell refrigeration equipment to independent owner operators. Is the Non Compete stil valid since they fired me and I did nothing wrong?

It depends on what it says. You should have seen a lawyer before signing it. You need to pay one now to review it. Do not accept employment until you do.
The validity of non-competition restrictions are not based on how or why your employment was terminated (unless the agreement itself says so). However, the enforceability of the non-compete maybe an issue depending on the exact terms of the non-compete and the facts of your employment. Have an attorney review the agreement to determine its enforceability.
