Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia
My hild bit another child
My son bit another boy in self-defense. His parent called police and asked for a police report to be filed. The bit did not break the skin, and per the victim, did not bleed. This is also noted by the officer in the report. Parent wants me to pay for hospital visit, tetnus shot, and antibiotics she wants her son on. Without breaking the skin, and no blood, do I pay?

If you are willing to consider paying, then you might want to ask the parents to present you with the attending physician's examination report and recommendations, which would include details of the tetanus shot and the antiobiotics. If you are not willing to consider paying, then you may receive some type of follow up in the form of communications from attorneys and/or a summons to appear in small claims court, where the judge would examine the evidence and determine whether you
need to pay damages.

You may want to contact your insurance company. If you have homeowners' insurance, you may be covered by the policy. If you are covered, the insurance company would provide the attorney to defend the matter or settle it. However, the issue of increased premiums should be kept in mind.
Also, if your child was truly acting in self-defense you may want to defend the matter in court and possibly file a counterclaim to cool the parents' jets about the matter.
