Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Georgia
inappropriate comments
My boss made an offensive comment when I said I was excited about going to a certain city to work - he asked openly, ''let me guess, you are scr**ing a married man there, right?''. This is just the lastest in a long line of personal comments made in private and in front of co-workers. I constantly am getting text messages from him - all non-business related and I want it to stop. I took this to management above my boss and was told it was my fault for telling him things about my personal life over the 5 years we've worked together and they suggested I stop saying anything about my personal life. How is this my fault?

It may not be your fault. I recommend you go to the EEOC website (www.EEOC.gov) to read up on you rights when it comes to sexual harassment. It is written for the lay person; so its easy to understand. After reading the information on the site, if you believe you have a claim, contact the EEOC and file a charge against the company. You may also visit an attorney before going to the EEOC to obtain advice on filing a charge. However, if you're serious about the matter, you shouldn't wait.
