Legal Question in Workers Comp in Georgia

Do I qualify for Workers Comp?

I have been driving a forklift with a knob for 31 years and recently I had a knot come up in my left palm.I went to my doctor and He said that it was scar tissue from the repetitiveness of the job and that it needed to be extracted and have treatments or it would eventually draw up my finger where I couldnt use it.I cant do the job because of the pain it causes. My doctor says that He believes it IS work related.

Re: Do I qualify for Workers Comp?

If repetitive work activities have caused or aggravated the knot on your hand, as your doctor as stated, then your condition should be provided for under workers' compensation. We generally refer to these types of cases as "cumulative trauma" claims, where the injuries did not occur in some type of sudden accident. I have seen many workers' compensation claims where repetitive work activities involving workers' hands have led to ganglion cysts and caused a lot of hand pain. You may have a similar situation. You will want to report the injury to your employer and request medical treatment under workers' compensation. You may also want to consider sitting down with a workers' compensation attorney and discussing your case fully.
