Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Illinois
Appeal unfair sentence
Is there a way to appeal a sentence and not the conviction? It is an aggravated dui case where the passengers of the driver's car were killed. The parents of the victims lied at the sentencing hearing. The judge denied a motion to reconsider his sentence of 8 years in prison, even though we proved that the victims lied. We had evidence to argue every aspect of the judge's sentencing reasons, and the lawyer guaranteed that we would get some time cut off. Defendant is in prison and is being denied medication prescribed by a specialist before going in. Prison says he will not receive his medicine as long as he is there because it requires too much care (blood tests to monitor liver).

Re: Appeal unfair sentence
Assuming a timely Notice of Appeal was filed and other deadlines met, the appeal of only a sentence is both feasible and common.
