Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Paternity jurisdiction/Visitation/Child Support

My fiancee and I have recently relocated to Indiana. His ex-girlfriend resides in Illinois and gave birth to a son. He has been helping her financially, but she will not allow him to visit with the child in state (Illinois) nor out of state (Indiana). He did have a paternity test taken. The results included testing from him and the baby.

What jurisdiction does he file his rights for paternity in Illinois or Indiana? What does he need to do to get child support payments regulated by the courts instead of her? He wants to go for full custody. What does he need to do to establish visitation of a child who resides in a different state?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Paternity jurisdiction/Visitation/Child Support

First, paternity will need to be established.

THEN child support and visitation issues will be dealth with.

Sounds like you'll need to go to an Illinois lawyer and court because an Indiana court won't have jurisdiction over her, and he can submit to the jurisdiction of the Illinois court.
