Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

I am a nanny and we was assaulted by the childbI watch on 3 separate occasions. This last time was really bad. I had a busted lip and broken glasses. I quit and now my former boss refuses to pay what we agreed upon verbally. I don't have a contract but I have a record of consistent payment for the few weeks I worked for them. Can I sue the family in small claims for the remainder of the money and assault by the child?
