Credential misrepresentation
Working in the Education Field I provided my credential
information and professional information to the school I earned my advanced degree. They offer a service to provide this credential information to potential employers at my request for a $5 fee. To my surprise they, inclded information that did not belong in this file, left out an important letter of reference, and misaligned copies which excluded some information. I discovered these errors started in April 2002 (according to a document included in error). I realized that the interviews I secured and more importantly the offers I recieved were primarily from employers where I did not send this credential information. Do I have any recourse regarding this? I beleive their negligence has denied me several opportunities.

It is possible that you employer services may have been negligent, but you have to show affirmatively that you lost out on job opportunities because of their errors and/or omissions. Seems like a huge mountain to climb. Plus, you have to show some type of injury in terms of damages. What damages (money or otherwise) have you suffered as a result of these omissions. I trust that they did not guarantee that they would secure employment for you. Although its frustrating, I do not foresee you prevailing on a negligence claim here.
