Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois
My employer says we are salaried workers. He doesn't pay overtime. But he docks our pay for holidays when he closes the office. One employee does get paid her full pay even if there is a holiday in the pay period. Is this legal?

The law requiring overtime looks to your job duties and pay amount NOT whether or not you are being paid a salary. Furthermore, even if you get a salary you could be entitled to overtime. Finally, if your employer docks the pay of "salaried" workers who he does not pay overtime to and assuming they are exempt from overtime, their exemption can be lost by improper docking of pay.
