Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

I joined my current Employer on 31st Oct 2011, i had signed a contract stating i will have to return relocation expenses if i leave my job before completing 1 year.

I want to end my current job on 30th Oct 2012 and start a new job on 31st Oct 2012.

Will I have completed 1 year of employment on the 30th? Or will 31st be considered as the end of the 1 year period?

Tread very carefully. In my experience, employers are very serious about enforcing these agreements though your reason for deprture could be a defense and the basis for a counter claim if they pursue an action against you for the relocation costs. Does the agreement define "year"? If not, I would say that yhe year falls on October 31st and your safest rpute would be to work through the 31st.
