Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois
I am under my fathers auto insurance, I ended up in a accident and hit a driver from rear. Now our insurance appointed lawyer is asking us to sign this affidavit saying at no time i his son -- was driving the vehicle for him or his family or was i doing any errands for him or his family, but in the end they state that i am covered. Why would they ask these weird questions?

Most probably so that your father won't be sued.
If you were running an errand or doing something for your father, then your father as the principal and you as his agent, would be responsible for your actions. On the other hand, if you were not doing any of those things but were simply a permissive user, then only you would be responsible and your father would not be sued if a lawsuit is filed.
Having said that-The insurance appointed lawyer is under an ethical duty to make sure that you understand to your satisfaction everything that is being done on your behalf--even though the insurance is paying for him or her, he or she is YOUR lawyer and is therefore responsible to you. Ask all questions and follow up questions and all information you need: he or she is under a complete ethical duty to explain everything to you thoroughly and completely.
I hope this helps-
