MY father passed away in 2005, he was planning on retiring at the end of 2005, but he found out he had cancer, he left me in charge of his affairs because I was living with him, and told me and his lawyer that everything was left in my name. Well it seems that he never his beneficiary from when he started the job in 1988. this person lived with him in 1988 when he first started the job. they broke up shortly afterward. He and my mother divorced in 2000. I would like to know what I can do to contest this and stop her from getting anything.

This is a classic case of forgetting to change beneficiaries when a life changing event takes place. Sorry, but the beneficiary on the account gets everything.
