The answer to your question is because the employers have worker's compensation insurance--and WC is responsible to pay for the medical bills, wage loss, TTA etc...

I assume, if you have been injured on the job, that you have a WC claim and that you have an attorney making sure you get what you deserve. If not, you would do yourself a big favor to talk to an attorney and let the attorney handle the claim. You do not stand a chance against the insurance company.

Your employer doe have to pay for your medical bills and lost income (within limits)

You need to consult with your attorney. If you do not already have an attorney, you definitely need one to advise you concerning your legal rights and to take the necessary actions to protect those rights.
