Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Pregnant, unmarried woman

My granddaughter is pregnant and unmarried. The father is threatening her with his rights. She would like him to have as little visitiation as possible. She would like to draw up custody papers. Can she do this before the baby is born?

Re: Pregnant, unmarried woman

Yes.....it would require the man to admit paternity and, therefore, subject himself to child support for at least 18 years, and for pernatal expenses. Remember, visitation is NOT dependent on payment of support and vice versa. Child support is the RIGHT OF THE CHILD, not the mother or father.
