Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland
RE: A union contract has grammatical or wording errors causing the meaning of the statement to mean something different than intended.
Would, what is written be enforceable or what was intended?
Also, if the contract contradicts itself, what happens then?
My question was refused by an attorney who thinks it was a homework assignment! I am not a student! I am an airline employee.
Please consider my question.
Thank-you

The court looks to the "four corners" of a document when deciding on contracts -- in other words, what is in the contract is what is required of the parties involved. If there is ambiguity, the court will look to the intent in drafting and also how the parties have performed to date. The real question you need to ask is will what you pay an attorney to argue your side be less than what you will receive in return from any potential "clean up" of this contract.
