Legal Question in Employment Law in Maryland

i have been working with this company since September 2, 2010 full time but it was a contract temp postion the assgiment was suppose to end in june or sept 2011. i recently had my daughter on March 3rd 2011. My last day at work was 03/01/2011 i had work all the way untill i went into labor. i called my supervisor Rebecca Zayton on tuesday to let her know i was coming back to work on 3/21/2011. she told me to wait till she contacts the hr department because her manager told her they where going to lay off four people because the company is not bringing in as much money as they should and since i had went on maternity leave that i would be one of the ones who will be laid off, so she said that when she talk to the hr department she will get back to me. she never did .On 3/17/2011 i took it upon myself to call My Manager Doreen Kelesy but she never answered the phone so i left a message. she has not return my phone call yet. so i call her partner Ladonna and told her what my supervisor Rebecca Zayton told me she said yes that is correct what my supervisor had said but she can't go into futher details of why? but she will call me before friday and let me know if i could come back to work. i received a phone call on 3/17/2011 around 3:00 in the afternoon from a terri smith who said she was the hr manager and but she is new so she told me that she is sorry to inform me but i can not return to work due to the contract has ended. the assignment has ended. so i ask her if the assignment has ended then why am i the only one who got let go.she told me that other will be let go on 3/18/2010. on 3/18/2011 contacted one of my co-workers and asked her has she herd that the assignment has ended . she said no . no one has said anything about the assignment ending, and she also told me they are still working and they have not let anyone go but me.

Sounds like you may have case for discrimination ... but it depends on a bunch of facts. You need to consult with a lawyer asap. Did you make a request for leave under the Family Medical Leave Act?
