Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland
Can a simple STOP sign itself on the road with a line at an intersection legally take the place of the octagonal sign? I am certain I stopped their as I always do, but I was ticketed exiting my own work parking lot recently for not stopping there.

Actually, the law says you are to stop prior to the stop line on the ground. The red octagonal sign is just to let you know about that line.

If the traffic control were on private property, instead of a public way, then the traffic law may not apply. There may not have been any violation of the law.
