Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Massachusetts

I have Civil Warrant of arrest issued against me for some outstanding debt by the law firm. I am not an American citizen and don't live in USA, but would like to visit my relatives, which is impossible with this warrant. I don't have money to pay the debt. Can I file for bankruptcy? How long will it take? If I don't, what will happen in the future. Thank You for you time

Yes, you can file bankruptcy. The civil arrest warrant cannot be enforced as soon as the bankruptcy case is filed, so you could then attend your trustee meeting at the same time as you visit your family. Verifying your signature on the papers before filing will be difficult if you don't meet with your attorney first, but there are a couple of ways to deal with that. Call a bankruptcy attorney near where your relatives are. I'm in Springfield and Worcester.
