Legal Question in Business Law in Michigan

Internal Board Communications

I am a board member for a Michigan Corporation. The corporation is being sued and has asked me to produce documents of my communications with the corporation from my personal telephone and computer. I have not been sued or subpoened. Can the corporation ask me to turn over documents? Am I obligated to do so?

I am not sure why you would not want to do so, but obviously you do have some reservations about it. Perhaps you need to speak to an attorney regarding the specific facts of your situation.

The simple answer is yes. They are being sued for some reason. As part of the discovery process, all relevant information is collected to assist in the defense of the suit. As a board member, your information is extremely relevant.

Good Luck!
