Legal Question in Business Law in Michigan
Internet Site Information
I am a personal trainer and would like to have my own website. I also work for another company where I train. I was informed that I cannot use the logo of this company on my website, and also that I can't give out my web address to members of the facility where I work because I work for them and do not have a business of my own. I want to know where I stand on this, and if I have a right to tell my clients that I work with about my website.

Re: Internet Site Information
You do not have the right to use their trademark because they have not licensed you the rights to do so. Regarding advertising your website, there is no law per se against this. However, common sense would tell you while in the service of one organization, it is not prudent to advertise a competing business. Your tenure may be cut short and you would be out of a job. Most employment in the state of Michigan is "at will". Therefore, you could lose your job without really much recourse against your employer.
Good luck!!!
