Legal Question in Consumer Law in Michigan

auto purchase

I just purchased a car at a $99 down $99 (wac) a month sale. I was very up front with the dealer and told him that our credit stunk and I could afford no more than $120 to at the most $200 a month. They were surprized that they had problems and then they said that the computers were down and we could take the car overnight and they would have an answer the next day. Finally late in the afternoon the next day they said all was ready. I again reitterated my terms. I went to the dealership and had to wait because the paperwork was wrong, and they needed to redo it. when everything was said and done they told me they had it al set. I needed to be at a wedding and so I foolishly trusted them and signed papers. Papers of which I never got copies of. When I received the payment book my payments were $397. I have talked with the dealer, and they said that they could get the payment down to $310 with $1000 down. What should I What can I do? I'm on a fixed income of $625 a month.

Re: auto purchase

You should not have signed the paperwork WITHOUT reading it. By law you have 72 hours from the date you signed the agreement to cancel it, but your cancellation must be in writing. If that time has already elapsed, there is not much you can do legally, other than try to work with the dealer and get refinanced or new terms.
