Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

My fiance is being accused of taking the cashbox from work. He tried to talk to the dective who is in charge of the case, but he doesen't want to look at any other people he wants to just look at my fiance because he's the last one in the building. Even though another employee was in the building by himself while my fiance was outside. While talking to the detective he was never givin a chance to completely tell his side of the story and was informed that he only had 2 options 1. admit that he did it and pay the money or 2.go to jail. He said he would never confess to something he did not do, but he did not want to go to jail either so he would pay for someone else to go free. He's epileptic and began having pre-seizure activity due to stress and the cop said he would take that as a sign of guilt. we have no extra money and 3 kids to support what happens if he doesn't pay because he did not do it?

He is entitled to a lawyer, such as a public defender, and it sounds like he should take advantage of that right. If he is not guilty, and there is no evidence against him other than someone's opinion of what may have happened, then what is he worried about? Cops will say anything to get to the bottom of an incident or to obtain information - a person being questioned or investigated should never trust them. They are not on your side or your friend, so who cares if an officer offered an opinion that your fiance's seizure was a sign of guilt? He's not a doctor.

Talk to a criminal defense lawyer or public defender immediately before making anymore statements to officers or anyone else.
