Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Death before divorce

In Michigan, if divorce is filed and the Defendant continues to hold up the divorce in order to maintain insurance coverage, there are no children involved except hers (step-children), if Plaintiff dies, does Defendant automatically receive all property/monies, as if they were still together? Does Plaintiff have to provide insurance coverage to Defendant and can Defendant prolong a divorce void of any natural children together, indefinitely? Plaintiff has daughter.....if he dies before divorce is final, does Defendant and her children get his estate and his biological daughter is out of luck?

Re: Death before divorce

If he dies without a will, the widow gets the first $150,000. After that, I'd have to read the statute. Bill Stern 248-353-9400
