Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

fathers rights on child custody

Currently my wife and I are living apart and have not yet entered into a legal seperation.Right now she has custody of our 6mo.old daughter and has threatened that I will never be able to see my daughter again.Because of the seperation I lost my job (I had to move).Currently I do not have the funds to hire a lawyer but would like to know if there is still a legal avenue I can take so that I will be able to see my daughter. Please help, this is an urgent matter.

Thankyou

Re: fathers rights on child custody

You have to file a motion for visitation. Some office supply stores, like Gails Office Supplies in the Detroit area, have forms to help you file it. However, when you file it, go to the clerk's office of the county where they live and the clerk should make sure that your motion gets heard. In the meantime, go to legal aid to get a lawyer. Also, you should be able to borrow some money from a relative to hire a lawyer. Isn't there any grandparent who also wants to see the grandchildren?
