Re: are consultants required to have a law degree

First of all, whether or not you have a law degree is not the issue regarding practicing without a license. The issue is whether you need to be a licensed member of the bar. The answer is that you do not. If you had to be a licensed member of the bar before giving legal advice, only lawyers could run businesses and be on boards of directors. For example, what a company should do regarding strategy or what it needs in a contract is not necessarily practicing law. Actually drafting the agreement would be practicing law. There is a great overlap, obviously. So, don't worry about it or as they said in Donny Brasco, Forget about it!. William S. Stern
