An ex employee is harasing me
Several months ago I fired an employee, then not long after left the company myself. I have since gotten a new job somewhere else, but this employee I fired has now shown up in my future new place of work and is talking to my future new boss. I have nothing to hide, but I fired this employee for making up stories and causing unrest in the work place. I am concerned he could cost me this new job if he keeps coming around. What can I do to stop him?

This is really between you and your boss. Ideally, he would confront this person in front of you and explain that he feels you are a good worker and that he'll not be interested in stories being told about you...
Go to your boss and explain the situation, but under no circumstances do you tell the boss the substance of what the employee did to get fired. You'll run afoul of workplace confidentiality rules, and if he's applying for a job there, you'll be in serious legal diffs.
You can't really stop him from interfering with your new job until it rises to the level of harassment (which takes a lot more than a few visits, so start documenting!). Still, it will be difficult to prove if your boss agrees to talk to him every time he comes around.

I would first ask the nw emplyer what his relationship is with the old employee. If it turns out it is a stalking situation, you will need to obtain a personal protection order to keep him away from the workplace. Any general civil llawyer can help you out on this. The forms can be obtained from your court clerk's office. It will take a couple of hours to do the paperwork and go to court to obatin the PPO. Then, you will have to appear at least one other time before the judge to explain why the PPO should remain in effect.
