Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

Subpoena to appear somewhere other than court?

Eleven years ago I was charged with a felony fraud over one hundered dollars I got restitution and five yrs probation. Only time I was ever in trouble. Today I recieved a subpeona to show up at the credit union for civil examination and I have already long ago paid all restitution and completed my probation. Do I have to go and should I take a lawyer if I do?

I would think you will need counsel to work this out. It might be as simple as a bit of research and a phone call or letter to determine why the restitution order did not take care of the matter.

Unfortunately, it sounds like they have a civil judgment against you as well.

On another note, since the crime is more than five years old, and this is your only criminal offense ever, you may apply to have the record of this crime expunged, or deleted. This may be of some benefit to you now or in the future.
