Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

Threatened for being a step-mom.

My husband has a son by an ex-girlfriend. We have been together for 1 year now. She periodically threatens to put PPO on me, to report me to PS with no cause. We have all these threats video/audio taped (there has been violent/verbal abuse with intereaction from her) She refused to drop the son off recently and stated the courts said she didn't have to. My husband called FOC and they called the mother, to state she was wrong. She covered herself by stating she had a case at PS - they said she was still worng. We called PS, no case open. They called back later to inform a complaint had been made and denied that same day. She claims my husband and I left the child alone (6 yr old) to go for a walk. We have a current case at FOC to alter parenting time that she is fighting. How many threats, intimidating interactions and false allegations do I have to deal with before I can take some legal action to stop her malicious slander? These are seriously false allegations and lies she is telling these agencies in an attempt to damage my credibility. I am concerned about how far she will go if she is willing to report obvious lies with no proof/evidence to these serious agencies. What can I do to protect myself?

Hello, I have received a copy of your psoting regarding the mother of your husband's child. Unfortunately there is little practical recourse for you. If she makes a false police report, you can request the police department to criminally charge her. Other than that, you can sue her. However, you will probably have to pay an attorney to do that. Good luck. Feel free to call me if you have other questions. John C. Talpos (http://www.Mich-Lawyer.com) (248) 743-6800

Next time she drags you in for anything, seek financial sanctions for filing frivolous charges. Also, challenge her to a polygraph (lie detector) test. She'll back right down. You probably need a good, rational, aggressive lawyer. Bill Stern 248-353-9400
