Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

Michigan Eviction law

I lease an apartment in MI. I am the only leaseholder. For the past few months I have been allowing my sister to live with me..as a favor on a day by day basis while she got on her feet. She was just verbally asked to be respectful and pitch in with some chores. She was never asked to pay rent/utilities..again..this was me doing her a favor. Well, through actions of her own, she is no longer welcome in my home. Do I have the right to just say''Pack your stuff, get out'' at a moments notice? By Michigan law, do i have to give her a 30 day notice? She does have mail coming to the address, but again, nothing ever signed/agreed upon. She doesnt even stay at the residence 24/7. She is over eighteen..not a minor. She has overstayed her welcome and I want her gone...like yesterday. thank you

Re: Michigan Eviction law

Yes, you now have to evict her as would any landlord. You have created a sublease situation with her and are her landlord.

For the laws on how to evict a tenant for non-payment of rent, please visit my website at www.lawrefs.com and search under landlord/tenant.
