Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

My mother passed away. I am beneficiary to several of her bank accounts. Am I responsible to pay her last remaining medical bills? When my dad passed 19 years ago i was told to contact the hospital and they would write off all his debt, which they did. Would I do the same this time?

If you did not agree to pay those bills, they are the responsibility of her probate estate. If the estate has no assets, those bills will not get paid. It sounds like this is the case if you are on the accounts. Visit kliszlaw.com to discuss more fully.
