what to do if my son who is 7 years old was questioned by an officer and made a statement without a parent present?

It depends what the results of the questioning were. If the child was charged with a crime you may be able to have the statement thrown out as evidence. If the statement had something to do with someone else there's probably nothing you can do. I am not aware of any absolute prohibition against police talking to child with out there parents present.
