Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota
I was on a lease with my ex-friend. I paid him then he paid the landlord. no reason not to trust him. Well he stopped paying the landlord... Landlord came to me because my ex-friend stopped responding to him. I worked with them but his wife files a judgment against us. I was going to show up to court to explain my side, but never received any paperwork on the court date. I called landlord and he stated "it was today, we sent letters" I found them in my ex-friend room.
I pd the judgment off the next few days with the understanding that it would not go on my credit report. Well it did - it has been 4 yrs and that mark is haunting me. I have read confusing reports online stating you can sometimes dispute this or remove it from report - is this true and can I get this removed?

When the Judgment was paid, you should have had the landlord sign a Satisfaction of Judgment which is filed in the court where the judgment was entered. You may still file that satisfaction of judgment show tha it shows as satisfied.
