Legal Question in DUI Law in Minnesota

driving after revokation

in 2002 I got a DUI and had my license revoked. I never had it reinstated because I did not need it and could not afford the reinstatement fee. I was just caught driving without a license. what kind of penalty will I be looking at and what would it take to get my license back?

Re: driving after revokation

Driving after revocation is a misdemeaanor offense and carries with it up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. Often, a criminal conviction can be avoided altogether with the assistance of counsel by agreeing to a stay of prosecution and reinstating the license.

To get your license back you pay a reinstatement fee - about $700 these days - and take the DWI test.

I have a page on my web site about the test: http://www.mn-dwi.com/manual.html.

You are charged with a misdemeanor I would guess. Maximum penalties are $1,000 and 90 days. It would help a lot if you had your license back before you got to court.

You are in a delicate situation in which a lawyer could do you a lot of good.
