I am afraid that COmmon Law Marriage is not recognized in the state of Minnesota. As a result, you would have the rights consistent with that of a cohabitant.

You cannot enter into a "common law marriage" in Minnesota; however, Minnesota does recognize common law marriages that were entered into in another state as valid if they were valid in that other state.
