Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Minnesota

We signed a lease with a rental agent and the owner sold the house

We signed a years lease with a property agent but the owner

sold the house to a resort and now they want us to go to a month to month. The property agent now says she didnt have the legal right to sign the lease. We have only lived here

for a month. We can not afford to move. We have a new baby.

Do we have any legal rights in this manner. We are also afraid they are going to make up something to evict us.

The lease says if they evict us we have to pay off the lease. Can you help us?

Thank You,

Greg Ellingson

Re: We signed a lease with a rental agent and the owner sold the house

Did the rental agent sign the lease on behalf of the owner? If so, you may well have the right to stay there for the rest of the term of the lease. Or did she just take your copy of the signed lease and you never saw it again? If so you may be S-O-L. I would want to see whatever documents you have. If the owner is making enough money on the sale, the practical answer is to have the owner pay you to move.
