rights to fathers estate

My dad was killed in a motorcycle accident june 13 06. He was married at the time he died to my step mom. I am the only child or 'heir' he had. Legally do I have a right to any of his estate or belongings, or does his wife have 100% rights to everything?

If he had a Will that would control. If he did not, he died "intestate" which means that you are likely entitled to a share of his estate. Dennis.
