Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri
Goofy neighbor slanders me.
A woman down the street from me, approached one of my clients when they pulled up in front of my home/office and told her not to go into my office and do business with me. She told her that I was dangerous, and a person to avoid.
I had left the office for a half hour or so to go run some errands out in the city. The woman who was approached called me and told me what had happened to her after I returned home. I called the police department and talked to them about it. They said I had grounds to file a civil slander suit against the female who was making these.
There is a lot more that this woman did today that was really goofy. Contact me for the rest of the story if you think I need to do something to stop this behavior.
And so it goes!

Re: Goofy neighbor slanders me.
You probaby need to obtain an injunction to prevent this woman from approaching your clients. You do have grounds for a slander lawsuit, however, these are difficult to maintain and verdicts are a rarity. Unless the woman has significant means (owns the property, etc.) then you're probably wasting your time. Slander is an intentional tort, and most insurance does not cover intentional acts.
However, I would think on the strength of the woman's testimony you could get an injunction to prevent this woman from coming on or near your property and making contact with your clients/visitors. See a local attorney as soon as you can to get this matter taken care of.
