Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri

Who can represent me?

Can my father represent me in court? He has my power of attorney. Can anyone represent you in court if they are not an attorney but do not charge a fee?

Re: Who can represent me?

Your father cannot represent you in a court even if he has power of attorney over you and is not charging a fee. Only a licensed attorney is permitted to represent someone in court. In fact, a person is violating the law and can get in serious trouble if they are not an attorney and representing someone in court. On the other hand, you may represent yourself but this is typically not a good idea and rarely if ever leads to the result you are hoping to achieve. Good luck.
