Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey
I am being treated unfairly at my work place. And im being denied a promotion to store managment after working there for 4.5 years as an assistant. They say i am perfect in all areas to run a store but i apparenlty have customer complaints. But this complaints are not based on situations or events just a customers opinion. Only 3 have been brought to my attention but the district manager says i have tons. But ive never seen any of these. Is this legal to hold these complaints against me and be denied advancement?

Yes, its legal as long as you are not being denied a promotion based on your sex, race, disability, age, genetic information and sexual orientation.
