Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

I had a financed car and the transmission went bad so I was looking to trade it in to my dealer however they didn't want it back so they said I could do whatever to the car and they would put me into a brand new one. Well unfortunately I took the broke car to a salvage place and the new car that they put me into I couldn't afford the car insurance. So my finance company said that I could be locked up for this, is this true? The most that could happen would be me getting sued, right?

If you drive an automobile in New Jersey without having automobile insurance on it, then yes, you may be put in jail for that offense. Go get and pay for a valid automobile insurance policy.
